The Wiedemann 41mm is specifically designed for the La Marzocco X-Filter with 7g and a 41mm extraction diameter. Standard single baskets from IMS or VST usually have an inner diameter of 50–52mm, making the funnel too narrow, resulting in gaps at the edge. If you are working with classic single baskets, you need a 54mm or 58mm dosing ring. The 41mm is really only useful for the X-Filter setup, where it fits precisely and prevents mess during WDT use.

The precision tamper has a diameter of 58.5 mm. This is intentionally 0.2–0.3 mm below the common 58 mm sieves from VST and IMS. This tight tolerance prevents jamming during tamping and simultaneously minimizes the lateral edge where channeling can occur. It fits precisely for standard Rocket or ECM sieves; for very tight precision baskets, you should measure again just in case.

With precise 58.5 mm flat-base tampers, everything sits stable; with convex or very narrow bases, minimal movement may occur. For standard flat tampers used in cafés, the station is well designed.

The 41-mm diameter is precisely matched to the La Marzocco X-Filter, a 7g precision basket with only 41 mm of extraction area instead of the usual 54 or 58 mm. This means: significantly smaller puck, higher ratio of coffee mass to basket area, different extraction behavior. For true single shots with 7g, this funnel is a must; classic dosing rings for 58 mm do not fit here because they completely overshadow the basket and complicate dosing. The 41-mm funnel sits precisely on the X-Filter and allows you to dose cleanly without coffee grounds landing outside the basket.
