Grinder type
hopper grinders (on-demand grinders)

The beans sit in the hopper and are ground on demand. This is the faster way in everyday life, especially if the same coffee is used all the time. A full hopper, however, means that the beans at the bottom are exposed to the air for longer.

Grinder
50 mm

The diameter of the grinding burrs determines how many revolutions are needed for the same amount of coffee. Larger burrs need fewer revolutions, the grind warms up less, and heat in the grind reduces aroma.

Burrs
Flat, 50 mm, hardened steel

Flat burrs grind with two parallel rings and deliver a tight particle size distribution. You do not recognize dull burrs by appearance but by the fact that the shot runs faster than usual.

Grind size adjustment
stepless, micrometric

The grinder grinds for a set time. That is quick for everyday use, but you have to readjust it when the bean changes or when the grind size changes, because then a different amount will flow in the same time.

Dosing
timed dosing

A large hopper means less frequent refilling. Bear in mind that beans age in it: anything that stays in the hopper for longer than a few days loses aroma, no matter how good the grinder is.

Control
No app control
Grinding capacity
0.9 g/s

The grinder output indicates how much ground coffee comes out per second. For a single drink you hardly notice it, as extraction and milk determine the time. You only feel it when many drinks are made back to back.

Bean hopper
150 g

A large hopper means less frequent refilling. Bear in mind that beans age in it: anything that stays in the hopper for longer than a few days loses aroma, no matter how good the grinder is.

Burr lifespan
250 kg

The manufacturer's guideline for how much coffee the burrs can handle before they should be replaced. You do not notice dull burrs by their appearance but because the extraction runs faster than usual at the same setting.

Who the Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR is made for

Grind size decides before the machine even starts.

The beans sit in the hopper, ground on demand. This is the faster way when the same variety is always running.

What distinguishes the Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR from the Eureka Mignon Single Dose?

The Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR differs from the Eureka Mignon Single Dose mainly in design and intended use. While the Classico is optimized for regular home use and offers both manual and timer functions, the Single Dose focuses on precise single-dose grinding, which is reflected in its special hopper design. The grind adjustment mechanism may also vary between the two models, with the Classico featuring a stepless micrometric adjustment.

Should I buy the Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR or the Eureka Mignon Oro XL?

If you place special value on larger grinding discs and more power, I recommend the Eureka Mignon Oro XL.

Is the Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR suitable for filter coffee?

The Eureka Mignon Classico 16CR is primarily designed for espresso. With its stepless grind adjustment it can also be set for filter coffee, but it is not optimized for that purpose. For regular filter preparation, grinders specifically designed for that are more suitable.

Is the Classico's Silent Technology comparable to that of the Mignon Zero, and how loud is it actually in operation?

According to the description, the Classico uses improved noise insulation compared with the predecessor MCI, but Eureka does not specify an absolute dB(A) figure for it. The Mignon Zero sits at 64.5 dB thanks to Silent Technology, about 20 dB quieter than conventional grinders. The Classico is likely constructed similarly, but without an official measurement. For home use it is noticeably quieter than older models, but it probably does not reach the insulation level of the Zero range with the ACE system. If noise is critical (morning espresso without waking the household), it is better to opt for the Zero.

Can the Mignon Classico handle throughput during the breakfast rush hour or will it be too slow?

The Classico is not designed for true peak times. The 50 mm steel burrs manage about 1.5–2 g/s, which is realistically 9–12 seconds per 18 g dose. With 20–30 espressos per hour you can cope, but once you need 40+ shots in the rush hour it becomes tight. The grinder is designed for home baristas, not for commercial throughput. For your setup the Eureka Mignon Oro XL with 65 mm burrs would make more sense; it achieves 2.5–3 g/s and stays stable under longer operation.

Can I buy replacement burrs for the Classico when they wear out or do I have to buy a new grinder?

Since June 2025 Eureka spare parts have been distributed via REPA as Global Master Distributor; they supply original parts to specialist dealers, service technicians and also directly to commercial operations. Burrs for the Mignon family are generally available, so you can reorder them and replace them yourself. At high throughput you notice wear as a coarser grind and poorer extraction; then simply order new 50 mm burrs. That saves you from buying the whole grinder.

Does the Mignon Classico also receive the extended motor warranty or only the larger models?

Eureka's 10-year motor warranty applies from June 2025 to selected Mignon models such as Single Dose Pro, Stark, Dolce Vita and Zero; the Classico is not on the list. So you get the standard warranty, not the extended one. For high-throughput commercial use this is a risk because the motor is the critical component. If long-term reliability is important, look at the models with the extended warranty, which are designed for higher loads.

Is the Classico noisy if I grind at 6 a.m.?

The Classico is noticeably quieter than older Eureka models because the housing is better insulated. Eureka has reduced noise emissions on the newer Mignon models; you'll hear the difference compared to cheaper grinders. For whisper-quiet grinding there is the Mignon Zero with Silent Technology (about 20 dB quieter), but it costs more. If you live in a shared flat or grind with a baby in the next room, the Zero would be the better choice.
