Who the Eureka Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose 16CR + 5 Jahre Garantie is made for

Grind size decides before the machine even starts.

The beans sit in the hopper, ground on demand. This is the faster way when the same variety is always running.

  1. 01 No scale next to itThe grinder weighs the dose itself and stops at the set weight. No reweighing, no residue in the portafilter, the same espresso in the morning as yesterday.
  2. 02 65 mm grinderSmaller discs require more revolutions for the same amount. For a few drinks a day that does not matter.
What's inside

The technology that matters for espresso.

Grinder

65 mm grinder

The diameter of the grinding burrs determines how many revolutions are needed for the same amount of coffee. Larger burrs need fewer revolutions, the grind warms up less, and heat in the grind reduces aroma.

Burrs

flat, hardened steel

Flat burrs grind with two parallel rings and deliver a tight particle size distribution. You do not recognize dull burrs by appearance but by the fact that the shot runs faster than usual.

Dosing

Scale dosing

The grinder weighs itself and grinds until the set amount is in the portafilter. That stays the same even when the bean changes or the bag gets emptier, where a time-based control would need readjusting.

Beans

Bean hopper 350 g

A large hopper means less frequent refilling. Bear in mind that beans age in it: anything that stays in the hopper for longer than a few days loses aroma, no matter how good the grinder is.

Type

On-Demand

The beans sit in the hopper and are ground on demand. This is the faster way in everyday life, especially if the same coffee is used all the time. A full hopper, however, means that the beans at the bottom are exposed to the air for longer.

Speed

0.8 g per second

The grinder output indicates how much ground coffee comes out per second. For a single drink you hardly notice it, as extraction and milk determine the time. You only feel it when many drinks are made back to back.

Lifespan

Grind burrs approx. 500 kg

The manufacturer's guideline for how much coffee the burrs can handle before they should be replaced. You do not notice dull burrs by their appearance but because the extraction runs faster than usual at the same setting.

What matters for the grinder

What matters for this grinder.

The numbers from the data sheet, in the order that matters. A faster grinder does not grind better, it only grinds more.

65 mm

Large burrs, cooler grounds

The larger the burrs, the fewer revolutions are needed for the same amount of coffee. The grounds heat up less, and heat in the ground coffee costs aroma. Installed are Flat hardened steel.

500 kg

How long the burrs last

Manufacturer specification for when the burrs should be replaced. Dull burrs are not noticeable by the grind appearance, but only by taste.

22.5 s

How long a dose takes

For 18 g of coffee, calculated from 0.8 g per second. For a single drink you hardly notice it: brewing and milk foam take longer than grinding.

13 × 20 cm

This is how much space it needs

These are 260 square centimeters of counter that are permanently occupied. At 43 cm height you need space above it for refilling.

All values come from the data sheet of this device. If a specification is missing, it is not listed here.

What distinguishes the Eureka Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose 16CR + 5 years warranty +++display unit+++ from the Eureka Mignon Single Dose?

The Eureka Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose is distinguished by its integrated scale, which enables precise grinding in real time. This grinder is specifically designed for preparing filter coffee, while the Eureka Mignon Single Dose is optimized for espresso preparation and features a special technology to minimize coffee loss. Both models are part of the Mignon series, but they differ in their intended use and technology.

Should I buy the Eureka Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose 16CR + 5 years warranty +++exhibition piece+++ or the Eureka Mignon Oro XL?

I recommend the Eureka Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose, as it features a built-in scale for particularly precise grinding, ideal if you value exact dosing.

Which burrs does Eureka use in the Libra 65: standard steel or Diamond Inside?

The Libra 65 All Purpose has 65 mm flat burrs made of hardened steel, not Diamond Inside. Diamond Inside is only available in the Mignon Oro XL and Single Dose Pro. For espresso and filter at home, hardened steel is completely sufficient; you will have less wear than in commercial use and the particle distribution is clean. The break-in period is about 3–5 kg of coffee, then it stabilizes.

How accurately does the integrated scale dose; is it sufficient for single-shot espresso with ±0.2 g tolerance?

The scale in the Libra weighs in real time during grinding and stops when the target weight is reached. For the Brew variant Eureka specifies a consistency of 0.1–0.15 g. For espresso with the All Purpose the mechanism is identical, only with espresso-optimized 65 mm burrs instead of the filter variant. You will reliably land within ±0.1 g, even for small doses from 8 g. That beats volumetric dosing and most timer grinders clearly.

Is the Libra 65 with scale worth it compared to a Mignon Zero 65 with an external scale?

Workflow question. The Libra grinds directly into the portafilter on the integrated scale, one device, one step, no external Acaia needed. The Zero 65 is cheaper, but you need an external scale and a second working step (to transfer or balance the portafilter on the scale). For speed and less counter space requirement, the Libra wins. For maximum flexibility (e.g. switching between brewers), the Zero can be controlled more precisely with a good external scale.

How quickly can I switch between espresso and filter without leftover beans?

The Libra 65 has low retention, about 0.2 g according to Eureka's specifications for single-dose models in this series. The switch between espresso and filter grind is done via the stepless micrometric adjustment. You turn the grind dial, purge 1–2 g and you are ready. For a commercial setting with a fixed espresso setup this is overkill, the scale costs time. If, however, you run several preparations (Batch Brew, Pourover, Espresso), the scale saves you manual weighing.
